About

Jennifer Lee

Jennifer Lee was born and raised in Northern Michigan, where nature was her playground. From ice fishing on frozen lakes to climbing trees in the woods, she grew up surrounded by small-town charm and a love for the outdoors.

Life later took her to Virginia, where she spent many years focused on family and raising her two boys. Along the way, Jennifer built a successful career in retail management, where she developed her passion for leadership, connection, and helping others reach their potential.

As a proud Marine mom, Jennifer finds her greatest joy in watching her sons grow into purposeful men with hearts for service. Recently, she embraced a new title — grandmother — welcoming another sweet boy into the family.

When asked what her perfect day would look like, Jennifer says it’s simple: family gathered, laughter in the air, a friendly game of poker, and time to relax and enjoy one another’s company.

After moving to sunny Florida with her husband, Jennifer began reflecting on her next chapter. In 2021, she discovered a renewed sense of purpose — creating I Need Blue, a podcast dedicated to helping others feel understood, valued, and connected through shared stories of resilience and hope.
In 2023, Jennifer expanded that mission by publishing her book, Why I Survived, and stepping onto the stage to share her messages of healing, empowerment, and belonging with audiences around the state.

Today, she and her husband enjoy the sunshine with their beloved Cockapoo, Joey, while Jennifer continues to build community and conversation through her work.

The Day Everything Changed

Have you ever had your entire life flip in a single moment?

I was the store manager when an ordinary Saturday night turned into an armed robbery and abduction. One moment I was helping women pick out dresses and chatting with families… The next, I was staring down a gun, guiding customers to safety, and making split-second choices I didn’t even know I had the strength to make.

That night in 2012 didn’t just shake my world. It became the first chapter of my story.

Years later, in 2021, a different voice came from behind me—not threatening this time, but steady and unmistakable: “It’s time to share your story, Jen.”

And that’s when I Need Blue® was born.
